The Squannacook is an interesting river, as it goes through both urban and desolate areas. Parts of it move quickly, whereas other parts move slowly. There’s much there to explore. My favorite section is the Peter Bertozzi wildlife area, about which I blogged here. But, there are quite a few other spots worth hitting. Here

Farmington Has Been Stocked
The good folks at UpCountry, one of the best fly shops out there, announced this: The upper river, from the dam in Riverton down about 4 miles to Whittemore Pool (just above the permanent Catch & Release area) was stocked on Tuesday 3/1. Needless to say, fishing reports in Riverton were excellent. Not sure on

The Squannacook’s Peter Bertozzi wildlife area is an awesome stretch. Access is easy and the trout are willing when they’re there. I’ve spent quite a few outings fishing various parts of the river, and I’ve concluded that the Bertozzi stretch is the best by far (I tomorrow will write about some other good spots). This
Quick Update
Orvis Dedham. It will remain open! They were able to renew their lease. Ty and Cynthia there are great, and so, if you’re in the area, say hello to them. They have great advice and also guide. Swift River. Ice sheet is gone from the hatchery lot. Some anglers continue to battle the cold weather and fish.
