“Thin to win.” That’s the trend among some competition anglers. So, I’m fiddling with new and thinner Euronymphing leader formulas (at the bottom of this post). A thinner/lighter leader ups a rig’s sensitivity and lets you fish better smaller flies due to less drag. All this can lead to more fish and bigger fish. George

A Great Day with George Daniel
In fly fishing, there are a few bad days, some good days, and some occasional great days. Saturday was a great day. I was at a clinic with two-time national champion George Daniel (his must-have nymphing books here and here) and saw challengingly high flows, some good fish, and a huge one that got away.
Quick Farmington Report
A quick report on the Farmington, given the high water. Fellow blog writer Damon Matus and I will be at the George Daniel nymphing clinic later today. We met up yesterday and fished in the afternoon. I started off above the Still River and found seven in all: willing stockies, a brown and a brookie.
