Two Events: Neal Hagstrom and ‘Campfire Stories’

Hi everyone, there are two very interesting events about which you may want to know.

First, the Deerfield River Trout Unlimited chapter is hosting a meeting about the Farmington’s Brown Trout Survivor Strain Program. CT DEEP Biologist Neal Hagstrom will be speaking. The Survivor Strain program really improved conditions at the Farmington, and some estimate that half of the browns there now are wild.

The talk is open to the public and will be on September 27, 6:30 pm, at the Eagles Club (52 State Street, Shelburne Falls, MA). Doors open at 6 pm, if you want to meet some amazing anglers who know well the Deerfield.

Second, our very own Joe Drake will be the M.C. for a Backcountry Hunters & Anglers (BHA) live-storytelling event featuring some cool speakers. It will be a night of “Campfire Stories,” full of revelry and community.

Tickets ($40 each) include food, beverages, and an annual BHA membership for you or a friend. The event will be at the new Filson store in Boston’s Seaport District, September 20, 6 pm to 9 pm. For more information, click here.

  1. Hope to make the talk on the Farmington. Quite a commitment for the CT DEEP to establish and keep it going. Call me skeptical regarding our MADFW’s ability/interest in following CT’s success. But it sure would be nice!
