‘Fishing Is Hope’

This is an amazing video. It’s well-made, and, also, is very moving.

There are many reasons why we fish: it’s fun, relaxing and challenging. But, for me, an additional feature is that fly fishing puts my mind at a different place, that “Zen place.”

It’s no wonder that it’s a soothing activity for veterans with PTSD or cancer survivors–and, that charities, such as Project Healing Waters and Casting for Recovery, have really taken off.

The above video is really amazing. As one person in the video mentioned, who since has died of cancer, “fishing is hope.”

I agree.

Merry Christmas, everyone. Thank you for an amazing 2017 for this little blog….

  1. ? I’m so glad others get it. Carol was my best friend and fishing buddy for 23 years. Being on the water was her “zen place” and truly a time that she could put cancer out of her mind for awhile. I think she’d be amazed and humbled by how many people have been touched by this beautiful video. I hope others are drawn to fly fishing and to the peace that’s found just standing in a river.

    1. Hi Kim, I am so sorry for your loss. It is a great video and a wonderful tribute to her. When the credits rolled at the end, and, it noted that she had passed away, it was very moving. To you and the others who worked on the video, what a testament to your love for her.

  2. Merry Christmas, everyone. We are truly blessed to enjoy this sport. I remember a time in my own life when I wondered if I would ever wet a line again. I give thanks for every trip now.
