Farmington: Part 2

Well, it is Day 2 here for my long weekend at the Farmington.

Honestly, I am almost too tired to blog. Fished for 10 hours. Caught many fish but had to work for them. A day for quality over quantity, targeting larger fish, and, for a time, unsuccessfully floating emergers and dries and swinging wets.

The two most memorable fish includes the 14.5″ brown below. With the red elastomer behind its left eye, this is a two-year old that was just stocked this spring.

The fish of the trip, and the year, is below. 17.5″ of pure muscle. I do not recall a fish fighting harder or being more wily. Pulled line from the reel multiple times and at a blistering pace. The orange elastomer behind the left eye means it was either stocked in 2014 or 2015 (schedule is here).

  1. Wow, that is a heck of a nice brown, as was the one from yesterday when it was raining! Sounds like a great weekend of fishing so far! Don’t you just love it when they take line off the reel? Nothing like catching trout on a fly rod, most especially with flies you tie yourself. Very gratifying.

I look forward to hearing your next report.

    Best Regards, Sam
