It’s an incredible fly for large trout.
I try to fish only flies that I make, but I make an exception for Joe Goodspeed’s crayfish pattern. I have a few of them in my box. In the right conditions and at the right water, it’s a great fly.
I blogged before how Joe targets big trout at slow pools. He has clearly thought through so many variables that I can only hope to conjure. The video below shows Joe’s thinking on why designed his crayfish jig the way he did.
