If you like saltwater fly fishing, think of Capt. Jim Barr of Skinny Water Charters. You might run into a cinder worm hatch, like the one in the video above.
A trusted source tells me he is the real deal, and after corresponding with him, I’d have to agree. Click here for a great interview with him.
Early in my fly fishing career, I fished near Crane’s Beach among the estuaries. Stripers on a fly rod is a fun time, particularly during the spring migration and the fall blitz. Sight casting to big fish is great, and that’s what Jim does. Here is the description from the Skinny Water web site:
Rhode Island’s premier shallow water fly fishing guide service. We specialize in fly fishing Rhode Island’s near-shore, bay and estuary salt waters for striped bass, bluefish, false albacore and ocean bonito
So, give Skinny Water a ping, and get out on the water. He is based out of Newport, RI, which is a fun town with great nightlife, and so, you can make a fun weekend from it all.
Jim is at JamesBarrRI@
gmail.com. Here are some photos of him with an albie and a dolphin fish.
