If you're looking for a change of pace while you're up there, look into the Dead Diamond river in the Second College Grant. Unfortunately you can't bring a car in unless you know someone affiliated with Dartmouth, but I think you can reach the northern part of the river by foot. It's a cool river – slow, deep, and windy, but full of brookies.
