Sorry guys, I know it’s been a week or so since my last post. Truth is, I haven’t been able to get out at all this week, not that I necessarily would have, with the temperatures feeling like -10°. If it gets a bit warmer (hopefully it will), I’ll have some more reports coming.

But I do have a few reports from others, which are better than none from myself. Scott, a viewer of the blog, said he hit the Quinnie for some January fishing and landed one brown trout there. A woolly bugger with a cased caddis nymph trailing it did the trick. The fish hit the nymph.

My buddy John hit the Swift, and as usual, landed a few. He said the fish were very scarce above the Y-Pool, and he had to move to the pipe before he caught any. Tiny micro eggs were the ticket, in red and yellow. I also heard reports of people slaying ’em with orange egg cluster flies.

And I heard from a few locals that the Nissitissit is still giving up fish. It’s great to see the rivers holding up so well into January, but I fear it may start slowing down with the temps dropping quickly. The Quinapoxet River Fly Fishing Blog wrote about an interesting theory about how the water temperature affects trout feeding, which I liked. Check it out if you have time.

And finally, I’ll see what posts I come up with in the future. I’m not sure how often I’m gonna get out, but I’ll try to fill the gaps with some fly tying or something else.
